Description: WORLD WAR II U.S Springfield M1903 BOLT ACTION C&R Rifle BAYONET & SCABBARD WWII Rifle Made in 1934 w/ HIGH STANDARD BARREL Here we present a Springfield U.S. Model 1903 Bolt Action Infantry Rifle, made in 1934. The Model 1903 was, of course, officially adopted by the United States military on June 19, 1903. It was issued en mass during World War I through World War II. It was officially replaced as the standard infantry rifle by the faster-firing semi-automatic eight-round M1 Garand starting in 1936. However, the M1903 Springfield remained in service as a standard issue infantry rifle during World War II, since the U.S. entered the war without sufficient M1 rifles to arm all troops. It also remained in service as a sniper rifle during World War II, the Korean War, and even in the early stages of the Vietnam War. It remains popular as a civilian firearm, historical collector's piece, a competitive shooting rifle, and as a military drill rifle. This rifle would have been issued during World War II and very likely used in combat. This Model 1903 rifle had a production run from 1903 through 1949 with over 3,000,000 produced. Armory refurbished (The boxed “OGEK” signifies the rebuild [Ogden Utah Army Depot] and was inspected by Elmer Kieth.) The action is excellent. The bore is in fine shape, shiny with sharp rifling. The walnut stock shows multiple inspection markings and though it shows use, it remains solid overall. Very nice bayonet. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Barrel is 24 inches.
