US SPRINGFIELD MODEL 1863 RIFLE MUSKET

Description:
.58 caliber, 40" barrel secured by three bands with screws. Casehardened lock and hammer. Full length walnut stock bearing the U.S. inspector's cartouche (ESA) on the left flat. Showing a pleasing even brown patina on the barrel and mounts. The lock and hammer with darkened case colors. Very fine wood with good edges and only minor handling marks and a nice cartouche. Good sharp bore. Overall a very fine example that will clean much better.
