Springfield M1 Garand National Match Type 1 chambered in .30-06 Springfield. This Springfield Armory National Match M1 Garand started life as a standard issue M1 Garand rifle and later rebuilt into a National Match. This Springfield comes with a government invoice form the commanding officer in New Jersey shipping this particular gun to an individual in Oregon in 1958. This example has markings under the op rod on the right side of the barrel "SA F6535446 5 56 A2278" and "NM star" on the front left side of the barrel. The rear sight is a fully adjustable aperture sight set between two protective wings. The front sight blade set between two protective wings with the right front sight wing is marked "NM / 062". The right rear sight wing is not marked. The windage knob is marked "NM / WH". The bolt is marked "652887-SA / Y01", trigger group "6528290-SA", safety "SA11", hammer "SA D5546008", and the op rod "6535382 SA". The gas cylinder is an unmarked wide base with a high hump gas lock and a "PA / T" gas cylinder lock screw. The left side of the stock is marked with the "Defense "Eagle" acceptance stamp. The face of the grip is marked with a "circled P" proof. The smooth hardwood stock has a pistol grip, metal nose caps, a stacking loop, two sling loops, and a metal buttplate with hinged door for storage. The forearm is smooth two-piece hardwood. The receiver is stamped "US RIFLE - CAL .30M1 - SPRINGFIELD ARMORY - 6094620. The sling is marked "56 - TURNER / SADDLERY - NM". This M1 remains in exception condition.
