This is a great example of a Springfield M1 Garand National Match Type 2 chambered in .30-06 Springfield. This M1 Garand started life as a standard issue M1 Garand rifle and later rebuilt into a National Match. This Springfield comes with a provenance paper from CMP research indicating the director of civilian marksmanship (DCM) sold this gun on August 1, 1969, a copy of the sales record is included. The CMP papers have private information blacked out in the photos only. The top of the op rod is marked "NM" and "7790722-RA at front bottom. The rear right on the right side of the barrel is marked "SA F7791035 1 63 Y9 PMT Defense "Eagle" and "NM" on the front left side of the barrel. The left front sight wing is marked "NM / 062". The left rear sight wing is marked "NM/2A". The windage knob is marked "NM". The face of the aperture's riser is marked "NM". The top of the aperture is marked "595". The windage knob is marked "NM".The front sight is a blade set between two protective wings. The rear sight is a fully adjustable aperture sight set between two protective wings. The windage knob is marked "BME". The elevation knob is marked "SMC" on the screw face. The bolt is marked "6528287-SA / A14", trigger group "6528290-SA", safety "SA", hammer "SA D5546008". The gas cylinder is a wide base marked "NM" at the rear with a high hump gas lock and a single slot lock screw. The left side of the stock is marked with the "Defense "Eagle" acceptance stamp. The face of the grip is marked with a "circled P" proof. The smooth hardwood stock has a pistol grip, metal nose caps, a stacking loop, two sling loops, and a metal buttplate with hinged door for storage. The forearm is smooth two-piece hardwood.
