Springfield Armory ~ M1 Rifle ~ .30 M1
Description: Perhaps America's most famous battle rifle ever fielded, the M1 Garand rifle is an icon of American grit and military strength in the 20th Century. Spanning a service life from the 1936 to 1957 as the US's main service rifle, the M1 Garand saw action throughout WWII and the Korean Conflict—along with continued usage by other military groups around the world even today. This unit's receiver was produced in the Springfield Armory factory in 1945 and was inspected by Norman F. Ramsey before being approved for service. The rifle features the original locking bar rear sight design and a relief cut on the operating rod—a feature added by armorers later to alleviate risk of cracking. Many other part numbers would indicate that some of the parts on this rifle are either original to the receiver, or at least replaced with parts appropriate for the production period. The rifle stock has very little visible damage: only a few small impressions in the wood and the upper part of the cartouche has been worn down—this could indicate a light stamping or, more likely, light sanding and refinishing of the stock. The forward portions of the furniture look to have been replaced also. The metal parts all are a uniform color, indicating reparkerization. This rifle would most closely align with CMP M1 Garand "Correct" grading. .30-06 Springfield Chambers: .30-06 Springfield Metal Condition: Good Wood Condition: Good Bore Condition: Good Barrels: 24 Butt Pad: Metal Weight: 9 lbs 14 oz Sights: Locking Bar-Style Rear Sight Item Location: Kearney, NE Price: $2,399.99 Contact Seller |
