Springfield M1 Garand with CMP Purchase Documents 1943 WW2 / WWII .30-06

Description:
This is a WW2 Springfield M1 Garand Rifle. The rifle was made in 1943, as indicated by the serial and later put together from parts by the CMP. This is a collection of different parts, given the barrel is 1942 dated and the stock is 1944 as indicated by the inspector initials GAW on the cartouche. The rifle went to Anniston Arsenal after WW2, where it was later sold as part of the Civilian Marksmanship Program. The rifle comes with the original paperwork and receipts issued by the Army to the original purchaser in 1988. Included is a letter from the Army, a shipping document which mentions this weapon by serial number, an original shipping document from Anniston to the buyer, certified mail receipt, purchase order, and bank receipt. Also included is a field manual from 1965 for the M1 Garand rifle. The metal on this rifle is in minty condition with excellent finish and very minimal edge wear near the muzzle. The metal rates about 98% overall. The bore is another strong point on this rifle, looking almost unfired and rates 9.5/10. The wood stock is original and has all proper cartouches, but there are various small nicks and indents in the wood that detract from the overall condition. Two or three of these are fairly deep where you can feel the depth when you run your finger over them. Comes with a 1944 ink stamped sling.
