Description: SPRINGFIELD-KRAG "PHILIPPINE CONSTABULARY" TYPE RIFLE, #405XXX, MADE 1902. This one is a bit of a mystery as it is made on the 1898 Krag receiver instead of the usual 1899 dated one. It has the correct 22" carbine length barrel & front sight with the muzzle turned down to accept the M-1905 bayonet. Possibly made by Rock Island Arsenal as the stock retains a faint original cartouche while the Springfield Arsenal made rifles typically have a simple "J.F.C." cartouche. Fine stock and handguard, barrel appears to retain most of the arsenal refurbish blue. Has a M-1901 Krag rifle rear sight, tight action, bore a little dark but will clean about excellent with fine rifling throughout, correct swivels and fine overall appearance.
