.45-70 caliber, 32.5"" barrel, S/N 137925. Blued finish with two-band walnut stock. Hooded blade front sight with experimental Buffington ""rack and pinion"" pattern rear sight. Breechblock marked ""US/MODEL/1884"". Lockplate marked ""1884"". Wrist shows worn, illegible cartouche. Ramrod bayonet catches with straight ears. Very good condition. This rifle came to its current configuration through the Ordnance Department's clean and repair program. This used current rifles going through a repair process to convert them to updated models. The lockplate is refinished and marked 1884. The finish retains most of its dark coloration, with some minor scratches and thinning. Stock shows some handling marks and wear with a light feathered finish. Bore is good with some minor pitting. A good example of this rare rifle
