Bore shows strong rifling with a bulge visible 2"" from the muzzle. High arch breech block is marked with ""1873/Eagle/US"" Lock plate is marked with ""Eagle-US/Springfield/1873"" Hammer has a two-clink tumbler. Stock has a faint circle ""P"" rear of the trigger guard, an old repair is noted at the wrist on the right side. Action functions correctly. Carbine is not safe to shoot, but is still a nice example of an early carbine!
