"U.S. Springfield Model 1879 Trapdoor carbine .45-70 (AL8027)

"

Serial No.143822, 22"" round barrel, chambered in .45-70, manufactured in 1880. Overall good plus condition with traces of case coloring noted on the breech. Metal is turning from blue to a plum patina. Mottled oxidation is noted on the lock plate. Wood is very good with minor handling and usage visible. Handsome cartouche dated 1880 is present rear of the saddle bar. Bore is bright with some slight frosting noted in the grooves. Nice example of an Indian Wars Era trapdoor carbine
