Description: Model: US Model 1873 Serial Number: 7054 Year of Manufacture: Ca. 1874 Caliber: .45-70 Action Type: Trap door Markings: The Side of the barrel is marked “VP (Eagle head) P" Top Strap marked with a "U" Right side Plate marked "US Springfield" with Eagle Crest Barrel Length: 32 Inches Sights / Optics: Military sights Stock Configuration & Condition: as issued Type of Finish: turned brown Finish Originality: yes Bore Condition: Bright shinny sharp and clean. Overall Condition: The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in about Very Good condition. Will clean much better. Mechanics: excellent Box, Paperwork & Accessories: None Our Assessment: A nice honest piece of military history. As was the practice of the military this arm had the metal and the wood coated with linseed oil. It has hardened into a varnish that has protected the metal and makes it look darker than it is. It would benefit by having that removed and would cause a great difference in upgrading the appearance, value and make all the markings more readable.Missing both lock screws. This is an ANTIQUE, NO FFL is required. Can be shipped directly to you. Sold as an Antique ~ no guarantees, warranties, or liabilities for any actual usage. If any firearms are to be used for shooting purposes, a qualified gunsmith should inspect them first. Adult signature required upon delivery. May order at riverjunction on-line with credit cards or PayPal. SOLD Antique: Yes |
