Springfield Armory 1873 Trapdoor 45-70 W/ Nobuckl Sling & US Bayonet
Description: Excellent example of original WW1 era war rifle. This is a springfield model 1873 chambered in 45-70 govt. This rifle comes with an original NOBUCKL tan nylon rifle sling($200-$275 Value). Also comes with a US marked bayonet and frog scabbard ($200-$250 Value). The rifle itself is in good shape with normal wear for a battle rifle. (If only this rifle could tell the stories its seen in its life). You can see in the pictures th different marks and scars on the wood stock of this rifle. It has multiple scars/ indentions on the under side about the rear sight area where it was rested on a edge many times during its use. (if you could only imagine this rifle could of been used by a US soldier sitting in a field somewhere throwing it on a rock pile shooting across the field at his target) The imagination can go on and on with this rifle and its history. Sports a ladder adjustment rear sight and single blade front sight. On the under side of the stock behind the receiver tang is an incircled P showing it went through an arsenal rebuild sometime in its life. Right in front of the P is 5 brass nails in a dice pattern nailed into it for some reason. My guess is a repair of some sort. On the top of the stock at the back of the reciever is 45 stamped into. This is a barracks armory cataloging system for where it would of sat on their rack. They did this on their issued active rifles. Please see attached photos for more details. Shipping will be $85 due to the length and weight of this rifle. We accept USPS Money Order or Credit Card. If paying with Credit card there will be a 3% prcessing fee added to final value.
