Springfield Trapdoor 1884 Rifle with w/ M1873 Socket Bayonet & Scabbard, Nice Condition, .45-70 Government 1873
Description: 1884 Springfield Trapdoor Rifle. Serial number 378165, which should put it's build date somewhere in the July - Sept 1887 range. Chambered in it's original .45-70, this fine rifle is in very nice shape for its age. Included with the rifle is a nice condition M1873 socket bayonet and its scabbard with correct frog. Rifle oprerates fine and the trigger is surprisingly smooth. Holds half and full cock with no issues. Bore looks good, with some expected shadowing and a few small pit marks given its age and the older powder it was shot with. Wood is in very good condition. K.H. initialed in left side of stock. Soldier, reservist or previous owner? Not sure, but wish this rifle could talk. This is an ANTIQUE classified firearm.
