There is a wood repair approximately 5” forward of the trigger guard. The two inspector’s cartouches and firing proof are visible. Lock is dated “1863” with the eagle and “U.S. / Springfield”. The breech block is marked “1870 / Eagle/ U.S.”. The buttplate tang is stamped “F/30 (Company F, Gun 30). The cleaning rod, sight, and swivels are correct. Action functions properly. This is a good example of an Indian War gun.
