U.S. Model 1879 Springfield Trapdoor Carbine ... EXCELLENT... LAYAWAY?
Description: NEW PHOTOS ADDED.....EXCELLENT U.S. Model 1879 Springfield Trapdoor Carbine ... LAYAWAY? LOOKS MUCH MUCH BETTER THAN PHOTOS!!! .... serial #40596, 45-70, 22” barrel with a bright very good plus bore with some scattered light oxidation but strong rifling throughout. The barrel and two-piece triggerguard have toned to an even brown patina with light wear at the muzzle and some scattered handling marks, the breech and breechblock have toned to a silvery-gray patina with moderate toning to brown on the breechblock, the hammer and latch show strong smoky gray oil-quenched case-hardened patina, and the lockplate has toned to gray with some hints of previous pinprick pitting beneath the finish. The smooth walnut stock is in very fine plus condition as lightly cleaned with a few softened older light dings and handling marks, and the steel buttplate without trap has toned to an oxidized brown patina and is slightly proud in spots. The stock appears devoid of markings, and the sling bar and ring are intact. The barrel proofs are legible, the breech block reads “U.S. / MODEL / 1873”, and the Federal Eagle and “U.S. / SPRINGFIELD” on the lockplate remain clear. The carbine is sighted with a fixed barleycorn-style front sight and a C-marked Model 1879 buckhorn rear sight, and the two-position lock and tumbler remain strong. The carbine appears to function well mechanically. I WOULD NOT HESITATE AT FIRING THIS CARBINE... ....2nd firearm ships FREE, with this one!....S/H $60..Thanks, INSURANCE IS EXTRA...I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR LOST or DAMAGED PACKAGES....Thanks Greg , cp SOLD Antique: Yes Rifle Caliber: .45-70 Government Manufacturer: Springfield Model: 1879 Serial Number: 40596 |
