US Model 1873-1884 Trapdoor Rifle by Springfield Armory Mixed Parts Gun
Description:
Serial #418158, .45-70 Gov’t.,
32 1/2" barrel with an excellent, bright bore.
This is a great looking rifle that has an overall very well-done old reapplied blue finish on the barrel, receiver, and Buffington rear sight.
The lock has a matching blued finish, with some pitting and oxidation present, as does the "1873" dated, low arch, bronze firing pin-equipped breechblock.
The walnut stock has numerous small handling marks and blemishes scattered about the dark, added military oil finish, and there is a faint, but legible "SWP / 1887" cartouche on the left side of the wrist.
A modern version of the Officer’s Model type checkered pistol grip has been added to the underside of the wrist.
No ramrod is present.
This is a good looking Trapdoor, and is in very good plus condition overall.
