US Model 1884 Trapdoor Cavalry Carbine by Springfield Armory
Description: Serial #415144, .45-70 Gov’t., 22" barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is a very handsome carbine that has retained 85-90% of the original blue finish on the barrel, lock, and stock furniture, with some mild fading at the muzzle, on some of the raised edges, as well as some minor flaking in spots along the barrel breech. The receiver and 1884-dated breechblock have retained a commensurate amount of their original color case-hardening, with some fading along the edges as well. The Buffington rear sight is no longer present and a "C" marked Model 1873 5th Type rear carbine sight has been installed in its place. The walnut stock has some scattered small handling marks and blemishes throughout the otherwise very good-fine period military oil finish, although there are some old linear scratches on the left side of the wrist aft of the sling bar that have obscured the inspector cartouche, which is no longer visible. The trigger guard and buttplate likewise retain most of their original blued finish and the stock compartment contains a three-piece segmented cleaning rod and stuck case extractor. This is a great looking late Trapdoor Carbine, and is in very good-near fine condition overall. Antique; Antique: Yes Price: $2,495.00 Contact Seller |
