This Springfield Armory U.S. Model of 1903 rifle is in the condition collectors love to see. The barrel date is SA 3-19 so it was manufactured just a little over three months after WWI ended. The receiver serial number, 1094696, is correct for the barrel date. The bore of the 30-06 caliber barrel is excellent with bright, strong rifling. The front sight has a correct cover installed. The gun retains approx. 99% of its original parkerized finish. The stock and handguard are excellent with no cracks or chips. It has a strong circle P firing proof at the lower wrist and a great boxed D.A.L. (Daniel A. Leary) final inspection stamp on the left flat. The buttplate is the correct finely checkered type. The rifle is equipped with a fine 1918 dated G&K Model 1905 sling. The action functions correctly. This rifle is about as new as you will ever see for a just post WWI Model 1903. Most of the Model 1903 rifles being manufactured during this period were the special Mark I rifles for the Pedersen device. One rarely encounters a standard Model 1903 made in 1919, especially in this great condition.
