This Springfield Armory .30-06 caliber Model 1903 A1 National Match rifle's barrel is marked SA over 1-38 (January 1938). Each year, a small number of rifles would be built/rebuilt for use at the National Matches at Camp Perry, OH. The barrel on this rifle is correctly star-gauged and the bore is excellent with bright, strong rifling. The gun has approx. 98% parkerized finish. The polished nickel steel bolt is bright and is correctly electro penciled with the rifle's serial number, 1498246. The rifle is equipped with a Redfield interchangable disc peep front sight, a Model 1903 rear sight without the 2750 yard notch, and a Lyman 48S receiver peep sight. The Type C pistol grip stock is excellent with very light use. It has the P firing proof mark at the wrist and has the part number, D1836, just forward of the rear swivel. The butt plate has coarse checkering. The handguard is fine with a small chip on the left hump. The rifle is fitted with an excellent M1907 sling. The stacking and sling swivels are present.
