** SOLD ** WW2 1943 Smith Corona Model 1903A3 Rifle in .30-06 Springfield
Description: This is a very attractive Smith Corona Model 1903A3 rifle manufactured in 1943 for the U.S. Military during World War 2. This Smith Corona has apparently been thru one U.S. Arsenal re-work since the war ended but all of the metal parts retain their original finish and the Smith Corona-made barrel is original to the receiver. The barrel is stamped behind the front sight "S.C." over a U.S. Ordnance Bomb over "3-43". As you can see from the pictures, the mixture of original parkerizing and factory blue finish on the various parts is very handsome. The bore in this '03A3 is superb with nice sharp rifling throughout and no pitting, erosion, or imperfections of any kind visible. The barrel guages a "1" at the muzzle and a "1.5" at the throat, for all intents and purposes the barrel is like-new and should be extremely accurate. This '03A3 is fitted to a WW2 replacement "C-Type" Walnut stock that is in excellent re-finished condition, free from any cracks, chips, major damage, or repairs. All of the stock hardware is intact and in excellent condition overall except for the front swivel band which has had its screw replaced with something aftermaket. This could be easily remedied as original 1903A3 parts at plentiful and inexpensive. All of the controls on this rifle are in perfect working order and the action is slick and precise. The bolt turns into battery perfectly, locking up tight with zero wiggle. The original adjustable sights on this rifle are in excellent condition. Both the windage and elevation adjustments on the rear sight work just like the day this rifle left the factory.
