1934 Springfield Model 1903 Rifle in .30-06 Caliber
** Beautiful Rifle w/ Original Barrel and Mint Bore! **
Description: This Springfield Model 1903 is a beautiful and extremely clean example manufactured originally in 1934. It is serial number 1466953 and retains it's original factory barrel and the vast majority of the original small parts. This rifle not only has beautiful original arsenal/factory parkerizing on the bolt, receiver, barrel, triggerguard, and floorplate that rates 98 to 99%, but has some beautiful factory-blued small parts and an absolute MINT bore that gauges less than "1" at both the muzzle and the throat. This rifle was likely a DCM rifle sold in the 1960's or 70's and has apparently remained in storage since it was shipped to the buyer. We had to clean old U.S.G.I. cosmoline out of the bolt and bore, and as you can see from the pictures the action looks unfired with ZERO wear on the bolt face and virtually no visible wear anywhere that metal to metal contact occures when the bolt is worked. As mentioned before, the bore in the original "SA 4-33" marked barrel is spectacular and mirror-bright with sharp rifling throughout. The straight-gripped stock is nicely fit to the rifle and is in great shape overall. Both the handguard and stock are free from any cracks, chips, major damage, repairs. All of the stock hardware including the smooth blued buttplate is also in great shape and tight to the wood. There are no cartouches visible on the stock, they apparently have been removed/sanded-off at some point or never had them, there is no way to know for certain. If you have been looking for the perfect vintage military match rifle this Springfield is as good as it gets! This 1934 manufacture Springfield would also be an excellent addition to any U.S. Military weapons collection as an investment and representative example of the famous "03 Springfield.
