R.F. Sedgley Springfield 1903 .30-06 - Custom Sporterized with Quick Detach, vintage firearms inc
Description: General Specs: R.F. Sedgley, Year post-1917, .30-06, 9lb 8oz, LOP 13 5/8" Serial Number: 198656 From America’s Golden Age of early twentieth century rifle makers we offer this post-1917 R.F. Sedgley Rifle in the classic .30-06 caliber. Sedgley built some of the finest American sporting rifles out of his shop in Philadelphia as marked R.F. SEDGLEY. INC. PHILA, PA. U.S.A. Sedgley favored the Springfield Model 1903 action as the basis for his custom rifles, he reworked the action to perfection and matched them to new tapered Winchester barrels, which were pre-tapped for scopes that also featured a single band that holds the front sling mount. The classic stock exhibits straight grain dark American walnut, finely checkered at wrist and forend with a graceful schnabel forend tip displaying the classic lines often associated with pre-war Griffen & Howe rifles. On top of the receiver sits a fine Ziel-dialyt 2 3/4x scope with clear glass and posted on a quick detach Heym side mount and backed up by a Lyman 48 adjustable peep sight. The front ramp with brass blade is hooded. This example has been carefully used and well cared for showing a few use marks on the furniture with 98% bluing showing overall. A crisp trigger breaking at 2lb, a 24" barrel with excellent bore and weighing 9lb 8oz with scope, this rifle feels and balances well and will be equally at home at the range or in the field.
