Description:
Remington U.S. Model 1903 US Military bolt-action rifle, SN: 3035290, manufactured in 1942 as part of Remington’s World War II production, chambered in .30-06 Springfield, and sent to New Zealand. Standard configuration rifle with 24-inch barrel, drift adjustable front sight and battle/ladder rear sight graduated from 3-27. Receiver roll-marked “U.S. REMINGTON MODEL 1903” with the serial number stamped below the manufacturer designation. All usual bolt components marked with "R". Walnut military handguard and double bolt stock, the buttstock marked “N (broad arrow) Z” over the impressed number “10295,” denoting New Zealand Government property ownership with an associated rack/stores accounting number different from the SN as correct for these rifles. Smooth buttplate with hinged storage door. Accompanied by a Civilian Marksmanship Program Certificate of Authenticity, dated May 30, 2002, with the official CMP seal and matching SN. Remington commenced M1903 production in September 1941 beginning at serial number 3,000,000, utilizing Rock Island Arsenal tooling placed in storage after 1919.
Condition:
G/VG original finish with moderate fading of the barrel, receiver, bolt assembly, trigger guard extension, floorplate, and other fittings. Handguard and stock have both been reworked with scattered handling marks, bruises, and an occasional gouge under the finish. Bright, near-mirror bore. Correct manual mechanics. Crisp CMP Certificate of Authenticity. An unusual, nicely documented Remington 1903 military rifle that was sent to New Zealand under Lend-Lease program, later sold through the CMP.
