Description:
Springfield Armory made approximately 4500 Sporter 1903 rifles between 1928-1932. This example, typically configured, SN 1295898, chambered in .30-06, has a screw-retained blade front and fully adjustable Lyman peep rear sight. Barrel marked "SA/flaming bomb/8-28". Standard receiver markings that reflect manufacturer, model, and SN. Bolt is swept back bolt with SN electropencilled. Trigger finely serrated with minor cross hatching at tip. Smooth grip "C" stock, unmarked except for the encircled āPā on front of pistol grip, with double reinforcing bolts, no handguard, and thick checkered metal buttplate with border.
Condition:
VG+ with metal components retaining at least 95% of their original finish, most wear around the front sight band, and thinning/spotting of the trigger guard and magazine floorplate. Comparable condition stock. Very bright, near mirror, bore. Correct manual mechanics. One of the scarcer Springfield 1903 variations that should please any military collector or target rifle enthusiast!
