VG+-Exc. Pre-WWII 1903 Springfield - all original metal finishes intact, correct FG stock with HH handguard, original 12-30 BBL, exc bore
Description: This exceptional, pre- WWII Model Of 1903 Springfield is guaranteed to be a genuine, standard-issue, all GI rifle. Before diving into details, some background info: During the period starting in about 1927 and running through about 1931 or early 32, a large number of 'RIA produced '03 components of every type were packed up and shipped to the SA, to be incorporated in a building program that produced a considerable number of rifles assembled from NOS parts from both facilities. This is one of those rifles and it exhibits many of the characteristics associated with the era. The upper band and the rear sight assembly are probably NOS WWI RIA production, and The butt stock is a late WWI production FG S-type made at the RIA, that comes with a matching late production, high-hump handguard from the same maker. Both pieces are in VG+ overall condition and display no cracks or serious dents or gouges and both are guaranteed to be UNSANDED. The stock also exhibits sharp, well defined finger grooves and all markings are guaranteed to be original. The barrel is marked SA 12-30, and the bore is sharp and bright, showing little if any sign of use. This rifle would make an excellent shooter and is a solid candidate for the CMP competiton enthusiast. The stock furniture, triggerguard and butt plate are all milled and of pre-WWII vintage. The bolt body is marked NS (SA production with the small gas escape hole that is correct for the period) and the face of the bolt shows no evidence of wear or detectable use. This fine piece would make a superb addition to any US military collection and, as previously mentioned, has the potential to be a competition grade shooter as well. There is a 3-day, non firing, no disassembly inspection period starting from the time of delivery to your FFL holder. All returns must be recieved in the exact same condition in which they were originally sent to the buyer. Buyer pays all shipping and FFL transfer fees. As with all vinatage firearms, this rifle should be checked by a competent gunsmith before being fired. There is no shooting warranty on any used gun sale. Shooter safety is the sole responsibility of the purchaser. Thanks for your interest. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. S&I are a flat $55.00 in the contiguous US.
