1865 First Allin Conversion 2-Band Springfield Trapdoor .58 RF caliber rifle. First Allin Conversion 1865 2-band Springfield Trapdoor rifle, that looks to have been converted to a cadet model. About 270 out of 5000 First Allin Conversation rifles were cutdown and made into cadet rifles. Barrel is armory bright, bore has areas of pitting. Lock plate is dated 1863. Breech block and hammer are still in original black. Wood is great and has two cartouche stamps one is “ESA” and the other is a faint “SWP”, this would have been added after the alteration from the 3-band to 2-band. Barrel is 36” to the breech face. This is a very nice and rare rifle that shows evidence of being altered at Springfield Armory! Hard to find.
