"Serial No. 527403, manufactured in 1891. Chambered in .45-70 Government, featuring a 32 ½" round barrel. This example retains a smooth grey-brown patina on the barrel, with the breech and lock plate exhibiting a lighter grey finish. Factory markings on the barrel, breech, and lock plate remain crisp and legible. The stock is in very good condition, showing light handling marks and a sharp 1891-dated cartouche on the left wrist. Mechanically, the rifle is sound. The hammer locks securely at full cock, though the second click is soft when drawn back. Equipped with the distinctive integral ramrod bayonet, this Model 1888 represents the final iteration of the Springfield trapdoor series.
