Antique Springfield 1866 Second Model Allin Conversion Trapdoor Rifle
Description: Manufacturer: Springfield Armory Model: 1866 Second Model Allin Conversion Caliber: .50 CF Serial Number: N/A Date of Manufacture: Circa 1866 Overall Condition: Fine Barrel: 36-5/8" Type of Finish/Metal Condition: Bright finish having occasional light patina, and excellent markings; breechblock case hardening is the correct blackish color, lockplate and hammer case hardening has silvered out. There is some very mild pitting to the rear of the receiver, minor specks on the lock. Stock/Condition: Oil-stained walnut fullstock with 3 spring-retained barrel bands (middle with sling swivel) and buttplate marked “US” near top screw - Stock is sound with scattered surface dents and scratches, and a nice inspector’s cartouche opposite the lock. All three barrel bands are stamped with a "U". Buttplate with some very mild pitting and brown staining. Length of Pull: 13-3/8" Front Sight: Block-blade Rear Sight: Single-leaf Other Features: Trigger guard with sling swivel at front; ramrod with slotted, ribbed head Bore: Clean with clearly defined rifling but there are intermittent patches of pitting that vary in size and degree.
