Antique U.S SPRINGFIELD ARMORY Model 1871 .50-70 GOVT ROLLING BLOCK Rifle
ERSKINE S. ALLIN Inspected Rolling Block
Description: Antique U.S SPRINGFIELD ARMORY Model 1871 .50-70 GOVT ROLLING BLOCK Rifle ERSKINE S. ALLIN Inspected Rolling Block Here we present an antique U.S. Springfield Armory Remington Model 1871 Rolling Block Rifle in .50-70 Govt, manufactured in 1872 in Springfield, Massachusetts with a two-year production run between 1871 and 1872. The Springfield Model 1871 rifle was a breehloading rifle based on the Model 1870, a design which incorporated the Joseph Rider designed rolling block action with the basic design of the Springfield Trapdoor rifle. The rifle was originally designed by the Remington Arms Company and produced by the Springfield Armory under a royalty agreement. This was one of about 10,000 produced in a short run for the U.S. Army. The Remington Rolling Block design was simple, rugged, and reliable. It was adopted by numerous foreign countries in the late 20th Century as well. This example features an “ESA” cartouche, for famed inspector Erskine S. Allin of Allin Trapdoor fame. Small, single letter inspector marks can also be seen throughout. The overall condition is very good+. Nicely refinished. The action is excellent. The bore is bright and reflective with sharp rifling. The solid and smooth walnut stock with use apparent. This one is marked with a rack number “10” just above the butt plate tang on the comb of the stock. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 36 inches. Caliber: .50-70 GOVT Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1995 #215268 SOLD Antique: Yes |
