Up for sale is a genuine U.S. Model 1861 “Special Contract” rifle-musket, manufactured by Lamson, Goodnow & Yale (L.G.&Y.) of Windsor, Vermont under federal contract during the American Civil War. This particular musket is dated 1862 on the lockplate and features the desirable Windsor, VT stamping—marking it as one of the ~50,000 rifles produced by L.G.&Y. for Union forces.

Caliber: .58 percussion (Minie ball)
Barrel Length: 40 inches
Overall Length: ~56 inches
Lockplate Markings: “U.S. / L.G.&Y. / Windsor VT” with “1862” date
Stock: Full-length walnut

This musket is in great condition for its age, showing tight wood-to-metal fit, strong markings, and a very clean, solid bore. The stock shows expected handling marks from age but is free of cracks or major repairs. Metal surfaces retain an even patina consistent with honest aging, and no parts appear to be replaced.
