32-5/8 inch barrel and original sights. Lock plate has U.S. Springfield and the American Eagle clutching arrows. "U.S. Model 1873" marked on the breech block. This good looking Trapdoor retains some of an old refinish on both metal and wood. Good evidence of a cartouche on the left wrist area. Action is crisp and tight. Sling rings and ram rod are present. The Springfield Model 1873 was the Army’s standard issue rifle of the 1870s and 1880s. This is a nice example of the Springfield Trapdoor.
