Description: For sale we have a U.S. Springfield Model 1873 Trapdoor Carbine in .45-70 Government. Carbine features a straight comb walnut stock with steel carbine buttplate, visible inspectors cartouche on left wrist of stock, saddle ring, a U.S. Springfield 1873 lock with U.S. Model 1873 marked breechblock, and 22" barrel with pinned front blade sight and 800-yard graduated rear sight with 1500-yard ladder sight. There are some light surface cracks in the stock, but wood remains solid overall. There are traces of original finish on the metal, but it is mostly patina. V/P/Eagle and P inspectors marks are visible on barrel. Bore shows original rifling, but is pitted throughout. Serial number 182637.
