Manufactured November 1944 by Springfield Armory, later converted to .308 Winchester / 7.62 NATO,24"" round barrel originally marked “Springfield 11010456 5-55" and later remarked “7.62 NM-H&R-7.62 NATO." The bore is bright and shiny with strong, well-defined rifling noted throughout. The rifle has been refinished and fitted with a new stock, remaining in overall excellent condition. Many M1 Garands were converted to 7.62 NATO during the Cold War period for competition, training, and continued military use as the U.S. transitioned away from .30-06 service ammunition.
