Description: 1943/1947 SPRINGFIELD ARMORY U.S. M1 GARAND .30-06 Caliber Infantry Rifle "The greatest battle implement ever devised"- George Patton Here we present a U.S. M1 Garand Rifle, receiver manufactured in June 1943 at Springfield Armory in Springfield, Massachusetts. This .30-06 caliber semi-automatic rifle was that standard U.S. service rifle during World War II and the Korean War and also saw service during the Vietnam War. Most were issued to U.S. forces, though some were also provided as foreign aid to American allies. To say that it was and is highly regarded would be an understatement. In the words of General Patton, “In my opinion, the M1 rifle is the greatest battle implement ever devised.” This one has a Springfield Armory receiver dating to 1943. The barrel is marked U SA 7 47 and P with a punch dot. The trigger group is D28290-5-SA. The receiver leg is 033E with a diamond and D 28291 28. The op rod is D 35382SA. The bolt 6528287-SA/J-1-B. The overall condition is very good. Excellent action. Bright bore with sharp rifling measuring .300 at the muzzle and throat. Solid stock with less than average wear. “P” is stamped on the front of the pistol grip. Good green canvas sling. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Barrel is 24 inches.
