M1 Garand Springfield Armory CMP from 2019

Description:
Springfield Armory M1 Garand, WW2 era receiver and 1953 barrel. Serial number 1004828 dates to November 1942. This rifle was originally sold through the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) as a service grade in 2019. No import marks. This M1 is in excellent used condition. The rifle has all military parts, of mixed manufacture, other than the stock, which is new CMP. Receiver and most parts have a very nice and dark refinish with almost no wear.

New sling, manual and CMP certificate of authenticity are included, plus two M1 clips (no ammo).

SPECS:

Receiver: Springfield Armory, marked “D 28291-17” on leg. No pitting.
Op Rod: Springfield Armory, marked “D35382 SA”
Bolt: Springfield Armory, marked “D28287-12SA”
Barrel: Springfield, marked “SA D6535448 10 53 A206A” in op rod slot. The bore is bright, crown excellent. CMP tag says ME 2 TE 3+ however it measures ME 1 1/2 and TE 3 on our (CMP) gauges. Chamber is in the white. CMP tag states 10-63 but close inspection of the barrel mark shows it is a 1953, see photo.
Rear sight: T105 postwar type
Trigger Housing: Springfield, marked “D28290-14 SA”
Gas cylinder appears to be standard wide base SA, possibly new replacement. Front sight .775 wide.
Stock and handguards: walnut with CMP cartouche with a very nice finish
Sling: new repro.
Bench test of timing and op rod function is excellent. We will lubricate and test fire the rifle if the buyer wants this done.
