Springfield Armory ~ M1 Garand ~ .30-06 Sprg
Description: "The greatest battle implement ever devised" is how General George S. Patton described the M1 service rifle issued to U.S. troops during WWII. Named after its maker, John Garand, the M1 Garand quickly earned its reputation as the best service rifle of World War II. An 8 shot, clip-fed, gas-operated semi-automatic design was the first General Issue rifle of its type. This semi-automatic design gave U.S. troops a faster firing rifle and a significant advantage over their enemies. This particular M1 Garand has a 1944 dated receiver and a 1947 barrel, not uncommon, since after the war many M1s were repaired or rebuilt. This M1 has its finish worn or faded from most of the metal with light pitting throughout; it also has multiple marks, dings, and dents in the walnut GI issued style stock and a split in the upper forend, but personally I think this wear gives the rifle a more hardened, authentic, battle-proven look. It comes with a GI style OD sling and a Danish bayonet and scabbard. Own a significant piece of world history through this juggernaut of WWII collectibles.
