Springfield Armory ~ M1 Garand ~ .30-06 Sprg
Description: This 1955 semi auto rifle is a Springfield Armory M1 Garand chambered in .30-06 Springfield. It has a fixed blade with protective sides front sight, an adjustable rear aperture peep sight, a smooth curved trigger, and a checkered steel butt plate with a trap door for cleaning supplies [cleaning kit not included]. The underside of the pistol grip is marked with a Circle-P and with a "2" at the center of the cap. The barrel has no apparent markings visible. The left side of the butt stock is stamped with an eagle emblem with several stars. The metal finish is in very good to excellent condition, with some loss around the sharp edges of the muzzle end. The wood condition is very good, with numerous marks, dings, and scrapes, but no cracks or chips are observable. The M1 Garand or M1 rifle is a semi-automatic rifle that was the service rifle of the U.S. Armed Forces during World War II and the Korean War. The rifle is chambered for the .30-06 Springfield cartridge and is named after its Canadian-American designer, John Garand. It was the first standard-issue autoloading rifle for the United States. By most accounts, the M1 rifle performed well. General George S. Patton called it "the greatest battle implement ever devised". The M1 replaced the bolt-action M1903 Springfield as the U.S. service rifle in 1936, and was itself replaced by the selective-fire M14 rifle on March 26, 1958. .30-06 Springfield SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes Metal Condition: "Metal finish is in very good to excellent condition, with some loss around the sharp edges of muzzle end Wood Condition: "Wood condition is very good, with numerous marks, dings, and scrapes, but no cracks or chip observable Bore Condition: "Bore is somewhat dull, but shows excellent rifling intact Barrels: 24 inch barrel Triggers: Smooth curved trigger Stock Dimensions: "13 inch LOP, overall length 43½ inches Butt Pad: Checkered steel butt plate with a trap door for cleaning supplies [not included] Weight: 10 lbs 7 oz Sights: "Fixed blade with protective sides front sight, adjustable rear aperture peep sight Item Location: Wichita, KS |
