Springfield Armory M1 Garand Model D chambered in .30-06 Springfield. Most of these rifles were produced by converting standard M1 Garand rifles into a M1D by installing a special M1D Sniper barrel manufactured at Springfield Armory. These barrels were manufactured from approximately Jan 1952 to Feb 1953 with the conversion done by Springfield Armory.This M1 Garand has a 24" barrel, blade front sight with protective sides, adjustable aperture rear sight. It also has an M84 sniper scope that has the correct identification plate marked: 'TELESCOPE/M84/SERIAL NO. 31319' and it has the correct original GI M1D sniper mount and the rubber eye protector. The barrel is stamped A T P S-4-3-52 with a M2 flash hider. Other marked parts; SA bolt "D28287-12SA W9B", W.R.A trigger group "D28290", Unmarked safety, SA 846008-2 hammer, SA 6535382 op rod. The gas cylinder is a wide base with a bevel lock and a "PO" marked gas cylinder lock screw. The butt stock is a smooth hardwood pistol grip with the circle P stamp and a leather cheek rest marked MRT 2 52. The forearm is smooth two-piece hardwood. The receiver is stamped "US RIFLE - CAL .30M1 - SPRINGFIELD ARMORY - 3451963. .30-06 Springfield
