Springfield Armory
Description:
Now over 64 years old and it indeed remains in its Springfield Armory Factory Original and ALL MATCHING condition. Also this is one of the old, early original ‘’DCM/CMP’’ Sales Rifles that was released for sale being originally shipped directly from the U.S. Arsenal! Best of all it was neverrebuilt, never Re-Arsenaled and never refinished nor ever Collector/Dealer messed with. Seeing only light Training service before the M-14 replaced it. In untouched originality this most Historical very late (and the best) Springfield Armory M1 Garand Rifle other than ever so light training use remains exactly as it left the Springfield Armory Factory in early 1955! *Book *Reference to this variation: Please refer to the 2 following great reference books: ‘’The Complete Guide to the M1 GARAND and the M1 CARBINE’’ by Bruce N. Canfield see appx pages 118 and 122 also plus page 154 especially Table 10 ‘’Post Korean War Springfield Rifles New Production’’ that clearly shows serial number range, barrel dates and parts markings. *NOTE: Also his Comments at the bottom of Table 10. To quote: ‘’Late production Springfield Garands are among the most finely crafted M1s.’’ Also, please refer to both Scott A. Duffs books: In the larger blue book on Post War M1 Garands also refer to the Data sheets listed and also the see the smaller pocket size green colored book by Mr. Duff ‘’The M1 Garand SERIAL NUMBERS & DATA SHEETS’’ as these are ‘’the bible’’ on the M1 Garand Rifles! *Matching/Originality: As stated this most Historical very late manufacture Springfield Armory M1 Garand Rifle is indeed ALL MATCHING and Original thru-out with no parts or even pins ever changed or messed with. It is no doubt one that it was only used briefly in Training and then put into Arsenal storage after being replaced by the M-14 Rifle in the late 1950’s or early 1960’s. **In fact it still has its original ‘’BATTLE ZERO’’ Label on the inside floor of the trigger housing! *Finish & % w/Part Revision Numbers: The parts break down as follows: Receiver other than expected action cycling wear the superb late Springfield Armory Factory metal finish metal finish rates easily 98%% and this is easily seen to be the unquestionable late Springfield Armory Factory finish that is simply unequaled! The rear sight rates appx 95% to 98% basically showing only expected adjustment knob wear, bolt assembly shows virtually none/little of the expected cycling wear rating easily 98%, exposed operating rod area rates appx 98%, exposed front barrel area rates appx. 98%, Gas cylinder and front sight assembly rates appx. 98%, exposed trigger housing and trigger guard rates appx. 98%. Overall exceptionally nice very high % remaining SA 1955 Factory metal finish to say the least! Also of special note is the unsurpassed quality and workmanship of these very late Springfield Armory M1’s, which are with out equal and truly reflect all the pride that ‘’the Armory’’ possessed! *Proofs/Markings: All are absolutely Factory perfect thru out in their un-touched quality and originality with the Receiver perfectly stamped ‘’U.S. RIFLE over CAL .30 M1 over SPRINGFIELD over ARMORY over 5926---‘’ and these markings are deep, sharp and crisp as new! The Barrel is stamped ‘’SA 10-55’’. *Wood Set See Below> *Bore: The BORE with only a patch ran through it rates MINT, Beautiful, bright and shiny! *Also the barrel throat gauges ‘’as new’’ at only a 3 on and original Government Arsenal (not aftermarket) Throat Gauge! It also has a very tight muzzle! Of course this is indeed this Rifles SA Factory ‘’SA 10-55’’ barrel and attesting to this Rifles originality the rear barrel/chamber area still remains Factory ‘’in the white’’ as the day in late 1955 when it left Springfield Armory! All of this attesting to this M1 Rifles originality! *Action/Mechanically: These too are absolutely Factory perfect and ‘’as new’’! Also attesting to its light service/use is the fact that it still has a very tight ‘’as new draw’’ to the trigger guard when closed. *Wood set: The original Walnut Wood set is also outstanding, untouched, never sanded, refinished or Collector messed with and other than expected Training Service use and minor storage marks rates about excellent with all 3 pieces matching perfectly and easily told none ever changed or replaced! The left stock just below the rear of the receiver has a perfect, exceptionally deep, sharp and crisp ‘’BOXED 3 STARS over EAGLE’’ (National Defense Stamp) Cartouche and also a most superb perfect, exceptionally deep, sharp and crisp ‘’CIRCLE P’’ Proofing on the bottom front grip area! *Again, All stampings are indeed perfect, exceptionally deep, sharp and crisp! The butt plate typically shows expected Service/use wear only with no cleaning or refinishing. As always: more question please feel free to call. *Accessories: Also as stated it comes complete with its correct and original sling PLUS still in the butt trap is the original cleaning kit! All exactly as it was turned in some appx 60+ years ago by the soldier when the M1 was replaced by the M-14 rifle. This is indeed as exact and as original un-touched as any U.S. M1 Garand can get, period! *History/Use: This is an original, untouched and ALL MATCHING and Original example of the very Historical and very late SA M1 Garand that was never re-arsenaled, never refinished nor rebuilt and has never had any parts or even pins replaced! It is one that saw only light Training service/use till being replaced by the M-14 Rifle then put into Arsenal storage till being released by the Military. Again other than light service/use it basically remains today some 63 years after it manufacture in exactly the same SA Factory originality it left the Factory in early 1955! These very late SA M1 Garands are with out question the very BEST of all the M1 Garands manufactured and to add even more to its unquestionable originality is its MINT BORE with a tight as new throat gauging at only a 3! *Comes with all the above! Also this is indeed a <>Curio & Relic FFL Item<>
