Description:
General George S. Patton once called the M1 Garand " The greatest battle implement ever devised", and very few people can argue with this assessment. This example is one of the many sold through the CMP and as such is fully functional with multiple replacement parts. overall condition is fair to good, which is normal for a rack grade gun. The stocks are non matching and in fair to good condition with no serious damage. the metal parts are all in good condition with no serious corrosion and multiple refinished parts. the barrel installed is dated 1945 and is believed to be the original barrel, bore condition is fair, with frosted corrosion and minor pitting. The rifling is still deep with strong shoulders despite the frosted corrosion. In all, this is a good example of a rack grade gun and shows good character from use.
