Description: WORLD WAR II Era SPRINGFIELD U.S. M1 GARAND .30-06 Caliber Infantry Rifle "The greatest battle implement ever devised"- George Patton Here we present a U.S. M1 Garand Rifle, manufactured circa April of 1944 at Springfield Armory in Springfield, Massachusetts. This .30-06 caliber semi-automatic rifle was that standard U.S. service rifle during World War II and the Korean War and also saw service during the Vietnam War. Most were issued to U.S. forces, though some were also provided as foreign aid to American allies. To say that it was and is highly regarded would be an understatement. In the words of General Patton, “In my opinion, the M1 rifle is the greatest battle implement ever devised.” This rifle has a Springfield Armory receiver dating to 1944. The barrel is marked 2-S-A-3*44. The bolt is marked D28287-18SA/011B. The trigger group is marked D28290-12-SA and the hammer C46008-5SA. The receiver leg is marked 0 6 9 with a diamond and D 28291 32. The op rod is marked 6535382 SA. The overall condition is very good. Excellent action. Bright bore with nice rifling measuring .301 at the muzzle. Threaded muzzle. The stock is smooth and in good shape. There is a stabilized crack on the left stock flat that has been secured.
