For your consideration. We have a rare US Springfield, model 1899, Krag, 3040 cal., Carbine, serial number 288430. This Carbine is original, correct and complete. All parts are correct for this 1900 made Carbine. This 1899 Carbine has a rare and beautiful Italian Walnut stock. This variation was referred to as "Yellow wood". The stock has the original and correct 1900. Used by Springfield do to an Walnut blight in the US. All original stock markings are present. The correctly dated 1900 inspectors cartouche on the left wrist side and a firing proof/P behind the trigger guard are present A original piece cleaning rod set and nickle oiler are included in the butt trap compartment. The metal finishes are original. The receiver has an attractive mix of case colors and aged patina. The original barrel blueing is also attractive. Mechanically excellent. All the features function as they should. The bore is bright without any pitting or frosting. Overall I rate the bore 8 out of 10. The rear sight is the correct Carbine "C" marked sight. The front sight blade is also correct. A rare and exceptional 1899 cavalry carbine for your collection. A historical investment grade Krag.
