WWII SPRINGFIELD ARMORY M1 GARAND Infantry Rifle
Description:
WWII SPRINGFIELD ARMORY M1 GARAND Infantry Rifle
"the greatest battle implement ever devised"
Here we present a Springfield U.S. M1 Garand Rifle, manufactured circa 1944 at Springfield Armory in Massachusetts. This .30 caliber semi-automatic rifle was that standard U.S. service rifle during World War II and the Korean War. Most were issued to U.S. forces, though some were also provided as foreign aid to American allies. To say that it was and is highly regarded would be an understatement. In the words of General Patton, “In my opinion, the M1 rifle is the greatest battle implement ever devised.”
The top of the receiver is marked “U.S. RIFLE/CAL .30 M1/SPRINGFIELD/ARMORY”. The serial number on the receiver puts production in August of 1944. A “Circle/P” remains on the pistol grip. The left side of the stock is marked “SA/GAW” inside a box with crossed cannons just behind. The inspector’s initials are for George A Woody. The barrel is proofed and dated July of 1944.
The overall condition is very good. The original Parkerized finish is 50%. The markings are clear. The stock is in good shape with the handling signs that you would expect. The bore is in good condition, clean with decent rifling. The action is excellent. Here is one that weathered the storm of WWII!
