This 45 Government caliber (45-70) Springfield Model 1879 trapdoor rifle is in its original configuration. The barrel has a fine bright bore showing firing wear. It retains approx. 90% blue that is turning brown. The Model 1879 rear sight has the correct unslotted attaching screws. The lock and action are smooth and silvered with traces of case colors showing on the underside of the breechblock. The stock is very good with issue dents and dings, especially several along the underside of the butt. The firing proof and SWP 1884 cartouche are strong. The ramrod and swivels are present.
