"NSN. Manufactured post-Civil War by Springfield Armory using converted surplus muskets, chambered in .50-70 Government,40"" round rifled barrel. The bore is good with light oxidation noted in the grooves while the rifling remains strong and well-defined. The metal has aged to a smooth brown/grey patina with factory markings remaining sharp and clearly legible. The stock is in good overall condition and retains two sharp cartouches, adding to its inspection and acceptance character.. The action is mechanically sound and functions correctly.
