Antique 1st Model 1873 Trapdoor Carbine Manufactured in 1873
Description: This is one of the finest 1873, 1st model carbines known!! It is serial No. 334X. It was probably manufactured in July of 1873. It has the rounded edge stock and the earliest type butt plate. No hole in the butt of the stock. The carbine sight is graduated on the right side from 1 to 5. The front sight is two pieces with a pin. The front band has a stacking swivel. The trigger guard does not have a sling swivel. The trigger is smooth. The barrel does not have a V. P. or Eagle. The lock is marked Eagle in front of U.S., Springfield, 1873 in three lines. It has the high hump breech which is marked Model 1873, eagle over crossed arrows over U.S. The lock has the three click tumbler. The wood is near mint with the original oil finish. It is only marked JG behind the lower tang. The reason for this is probably because it was never inspected or issued?? It would be near impossible to find a Pre-Custer piece in better condition. The metal retains 95% finish and the bore is near mint. If you have questions, please let us know. US only – no International sales. Buyer pays $50.00 shipping, which includes a hard case. Three day inspection allowed if returned UNALTERED. Must be 21 years of age to purchase. Antique! No FFL required. If your state requires an FFL for antiques, you should call 251-510-5007 before buying. Any weapon you plan to shoot should be inspected by a competent gun smith before firing.
