Antique US Springfield Model 1873 Trapdoor 45-70 Caliber Army Rifle

Antique US Springfield Model 1873 45-70 caliber.  Serial number 51,273 indicating 1875 manufacture,Indian wars era Army rifle. The functioning breach block is marked US Model 1873 with the eagle's head.  The functioning Lock is marked US Springfield. The full 2 band dark walnut stock shows heavy use with numerous dents, abrasions, hairline cracks and a chip on the left side of the tank.  The full length 32'5" barrel has both early front and rear sights with a good clean bore.  The stock shows regement and rack numbers as well as a copper museum or inventory tag (100) on the left side of the butt stock.
