ANTIQUE US SPRINGFIELD Model 1884 Trapdoor CARBINE
Description: ANTIQUE US SPRINGFIELD Model 1884 Trapdoor CARBINE ORIGINAL Rock Island Arsenal Boot and Cleaning Rod Here we present an antique U.S. Springfield Model 1884 Trapdoor Carbine with original saddle boot and three piece cleaning rod, made circa 1889 by Springfield Armory. Production for this carbine was low at only 20,000. Amazingly, despite the adoption of the ill-fated Model 1882 Chaffee-Reese Bolt Action Magazine Rifle, new models of trapdoor rifles continued to be produced and used all the way through the mid-1890s, until finally, the Krag-Jorgensen was adopted. The U.S. continued to see unrest and conflict with the displaced Native Americans during this time, including the Wounded Knee Massacre on December 29th, 1890. Trapdoors continued to see use all the way through the Spanish American War. This specimen is in very good overall condition. The patina is an even brown. Muted case colors visible on the hammer. Another thing that makes this rifle stand out is the presence of the original accoutrements: the original cavalry carbine saddle boot marked by Rock Island Arsenal as well as the original three piece cleaning rod. The carbine is outfitted with a Buffington leaf rear sight. The walnut stock is in very good condition. You seldom come across such a scarce carbine with original field gear. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 22 inches in length. Caliber: 45-70 Govt (45-70-500) Bore and the firing mechanism are in excellent condition. Overall condition as seen in photos. Here is a great example of a trapdoor carbine with a full array of accoutrements for your fine collection! Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1750 #10346 SOLD Antique: Yes |
