Description: Make: Springfield Armory Model: U.S. Model Springfield 1873 .45-70 Govt. Trapdoor rifle Serial Number: 267010 Year of Manufacture: 1884 Caliber: .45-70 Govt. Action Type: Single Shot with Trapdoor Breech Markings: The lock plate is marked U.S. over SPRINGFIELD with an eagle to the rear of this marking. The top of the breech block is marked U.S./Model/1873. The barrel has a V over P over eagle over P at the breech. Left side of barrel in front of breech is marked "R". The rear sight is marked "R" The two barel bands are marked with "U". The top of the butt plate is marked "US". The stock has a cartouch with initials and stamped 1884 on left wrist area. There is a cicle P behind the rear trigger tang. Barrel Length: Approximately 32 5/8" Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade atop a raised base, with an added hood. the rear is a ladder sight with 1-5 graduation. Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is hardwood with a straight grip, cutout for the included ram rod, metal nose cap, two sling loops, two barrel bands and a metal buttplate. The stock is in very nice condtion with only minor handling marks, and one thin crack next to right barrel tang. Type of Finish: The barrel finish is deep blue with very light areas of corrosion. No signs of wear, nicks or pitting. The case hardening on the trapdoor, and rear tang are in very fine condition. Finish Originality: See picture Bore Condition: The bore and breech are in excellent condition, very bright and shiney. Overall Condition: The finish shows only very minor corrison. The lock plate shows no rust or pitting. The case hardening is very strong. The buttplate shows some swear and surface erosion.The screw heads are still crisp. The markings are very readable. Comes with reprouction leather sling . Overall, this rifle is is in very fine condtion. Mechanics: The action functions correctly with very strong hammer spring and 3 cocking position.
