SPRINGFIELD 1879 US TRAPDOOR RIFLE
Description: Cal 45-70. 32-1/2" bbl with button tipped ram rod. Bbl and action lock retain most blue. Breech block has vivid case color. Wood is good overall with some orig finish, handling mars and visible cartouches. VG bright shiny bore. Although there is no official designation for the Model 1879, certain features, such as a slightly different breech from those used on earlier models, a notably thicker and wider receiver, as well as its serial number, identify this rifle as one produced between 1879 and 1885.
